Here at ThinkLiveNatural, we love natural health and beauty products. We’re all about using products with minimal synthetic ingredients and low negative impact on the planet, whilst still looking good of course. Although we know that natural is a word thrown around quite often, we know good natural products when we see them.
With this in mind, we continue our review series with three brands, Fat and the Moon, Magic Soap UK and Stripped Skincare. For the chance to win all of the amazing products reviewed in this article, enter your email address below!Think Live Natural Giveaway
Fat and the Moon
Founded by the lovely Rachel, Fat and The Moon started as she saw a need to create simple yet formulations in a beauty industry that favoured traditional (i.e. not environmentally-friendly) ingredients. Coming from a background of herbalists makes this more of a natural transition (in more ways than one). The brand offers handmade, cruelty-free products that are both nourishing to the skin and good for the environment.
About the brand name, Fat and the Moon says: ‘The ‘fat’ in Fat and the Moon comes from love of the material- oil is the medium of external herbal medicine. Fat, in the form of oil, is the gift of the seed. In both plants and animals, fat is where energy is stored.’
Fat and the Moon encompasses the luxury and simplicity of daily skincare and bodycare.
Upon arrival of our Fat and the Moon products, we also received a card with a Slovenian plant proverb which we read: ‘The branch can only be bent when it’s green.’
Each product is labelled with the apothecary-style black and white label, bohemian font and recyclable packaging which reflects their sustainable ethos.
Now onto the four products we received…
All-Cream – A truly multi-tasking product that works for both face and body. This thick cream has a whipped consistency, making it easier to spread over any dry areas. Enriched with moisturising sunflower oil and shea butter, soothing aloe vera and toning rosewater, this is perfect for winter or dry, parched skin. Due to the natural ingredients, it is advised to use this product within four months (or slightly longer if refrigerated).
Mermaid Mask – A powdered mask that works wonders for both your skin and hair. Just add water! With nourishing ingredients such as honey, aloe vera and rhassoul clay and lavender essential oil, this mask both clears and calms the skin. You can use in three ways:
- As a cleanser, mix the mask with a little bit of water, massage onto skin then rinse.
- As a mask, mix 1 teaspoon of the mask with a few tablespoons of water, massage onto skin and leave on for 20 minutes.
- For the hair, mix 2 tablespoons of the mask with a cup of hot water, leave on hair for 20 minutes. Rinse and carry on with the rest of your routine.
Lavender & Cocoa Dry Shampoo – Dry shampoo works as a quick fix when you have no time to shampoo your hair. Unlike traditional dry shampoos that contain aluminium, this dry shampoo contains arrowroot starch and kaolin clay to absorb excess oils, cocoa powder to add a slight colour and lavender oil to leave your hair feeling and smelling fresh. To use, dip your brush into the powder and brush through the oiliest parts of your hair. Style as usual.
Lip & Cheek Stain – Fat and the Moon also offers colour cosmetics. At first glance, this lip and cheek stain is a dark purple colour but on application, the stain comes off as a sheer berry colour that is universally flattering. The colour comes from alkanet and beet root and is enriched with sunflower oil and beeswax to keep your cheeks and lips moisturised. To use, simply dab onto lips and cheeks.
We love Fat and the Moon for their all-natural, multi-use products that look great on a vanity. The products easily replace the 10+ that we currently use in our daily routines and for that, Fat and the Moon gets a big yes from us! Connect with the brand on their socials; visit their website, Facebook and Instagram for more information.
Now onto London brand, Magic Soap UK…
Magic Soap UK
A relatively new company, Magic Soap UK caught our attention with their 100% handmade, natural soaps. Enriched with moisturising ingredients such as glycerine, vitamin E and coconut oil, these soaps are designed to nourish the skin whilst looking great in your shower.
We have five soaps from Magic Soap UK.
Rose Soap – First up, is the delicate rose-scented soap (that is appropriately embossed with a flower pattern). Not only does it look pretty, it does good too! The soap is glycerine-based, meaning that it will be gentle on the skin.
Grapefruit Soap – The dark, transparent soap is a fruity affair. Refresh and invigorate the skin with the scents of grapefruit.
Coffee Soap – They say there’s nothing like coffee to wake you up in the morning, and we agree. Made with coffee granules, this soap exfoliates dry and dull areas of the skin whilst waking you up for a day of productivity.
Lavender Soap – Infused with dried lavender, this soap is perfect to use before bedtime. Lavender is known to be relaxing and this soap is no different. Get ready for a restful sleep after using this.
Caribbean Dream Soap – Best described as a “holiday in a bar of soap”. Think sun, sand and cocktails. Even if you have no holiday plans this year, this colourful bar of soap will transport you to your favourite tropical destination.
We think this is just the beginning for Magic Soap UK. With their fun array of handmade soaps, we can’t wait to see what else is in store for them, big things we hope as we support them along the way. Take a look at their Etsy store and Facebook for more of the brand.
Finally, we take a look at British brand, Stripped Skincare…
‘100% Natural, 100% Honest’ is a tagline that best represents Stripped. The founder’s struggle to find natural skincare that would get rid of her adult acne lead to the creation of her own brand. In the midst of natural skincare products which can often be troublesome to blemish prone skin, is Stripped Skincare.
The brand is completely transparent about the ingredients in the products. You can be sure that no preservatives, harsh fillers or synthetic ingredients are in any of the Stripped product formulations. Likewise, they do not test on animals. Stripped Skincare stands as a brand that cares about your skin as much as you do, offering simple yet effective formulations that improve the condition of the skin.
Rosehip and Mandarin Moisturising Oil – This appears to be one of Stripped Skincare’s best-selling products. One reviewer, in particular, mentioned that after a thirteen year struggle with acne, this oil improved the condition of their skin after just one day of use.
Made with jojoba, rosehip, sea buckthorn and calendula oils as well as mandarin, frankincense and rosemary essential oils, this oil nourishes the skin. The rosehip and sea buckthorn oils also contain skin healing properties, so those with acne scars will find this especially beneficial. To reap the full benefits, massage onto skin morning and night after washing your face, paying attention to massage upwards in light strokes.
Peppermint Lip Balm – Soften the skin with moisturising ingredients, coconut oil, beeswax, almond oil, shea butter as well as cooling peppermint oil that will leave your lips soft all day long.
For their beautifully made products and honest approach to skincare, we would honestly love to buy more products from Stripped Skincare. Visit their website and engage with them on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
