 Imperial Candles

From Imperial Candles come bath, body and home fragrance products with a twist. In their own words, Imperial Candles was ‘born from our passion of quality-scented products’. Their candles are made from natural soy wax and natural fragrance oils, and are hand-poured and packaged in the UK. The company pride themselves in ethical responsibility; not only creating high-quality products but also creating products which have not been tested on animals.

What makes each item special is that inside every candle, wax melt and bath bomb is a piece of jewellery worth up to £2000. You can see this as soon as the candle begins to melt down a bit, revealing your own packaged piece of jewellery. Unwrap and enjoy! The candle may not last forever but your jewellery will be.

Combining the luxury of carefully crafted scents and delicate jewellery with the special touch of each handmade product, Imperial Candles has really created something special!

Now onto the product we received…

Last but certainly not least, we move onto US brand, Vintage Tradition….

Vintage Tradition

From the mountainous region of Colorado Springs, come the simple yet effective products from brand Vintage Tradition. The journey to producing tallow-based products all started with a trip to Tequila, Mexico where it was noticed that tallow kept the farmers hands’ soft (despite hours working in hot and dry conditions). By focusing on the star ingredient tallow, Vintage Tradition have created simple formulations that work to keep the skin healthy, moisturised and protected. They claim the first use of tallow in modern skincare formulation. The name, Vintage Tradition, then is a tribute to old skincare rituals where women would only use tallow on their skin.

The ingredient, is made from animal fat of cows, sheep and deer. What makes it so special, according to Vintage Tradition is that ‘it is very solid and waxy at room temperature and can be kept for extended periods without the need for refrigeration.’ This makes it the perfect ingredient for balms targeting face and bodycare.

Vintage Tradition prides themselves in creating high-quality natural (chemical-free) GMO-free ingredients. It really is ‘The Whole Food of Skin Care’!

The Products

We received two full-size products and nine samples. The first thing we noticed was the glass apothecary-style jars (blue for full-size and clear for samples). The two balms are labelled with brown paper that is reminiscent of vintage beauty products.  The brand houses a range of balms and essential oil blends but today we are focusing only on the balms.

Almost Unscented – Using tallow from 100% grass-fed cows as well as cold-press extra virgin olive oil, cedarwood and lavender, this do-it-all balm works on face, body, hands and lips. The extremely moisturising ingredients protect skin from harsh conditions (wind or sun) however you’re never left feeling oily because all residue is absorbed almost immediately. The elegant scents of lavender and cedarwood softly scent the skin to create a complete sensory experience. To use, rub over any dry areas.

Pretty Girly – Like Almost Unscented, this is a balm that works anywhere. The difference is in the scent. Enriched with palmarosa, celery seed, lavender, geranium and elemi, Pretty Girly is very fitting of its name as the essential oils create a feminine, floral scent.

Deodorant for Women – Using essential oils such as lavender, thyme, bergamot, marjoram and myrtle, Vintage Tradition have created a natural, aluminium-free, cream-based deodorant that is easily absorbent. What’s better is that the jar makes it perfect for travel.

Windswept – Of this product, Vintage Tradition have said that ‘Windswept is our most unusual scent. It has essential oils that make it great for wind-weathered, cracked, and red skin.’ The scent is made spearmint, clove, carrot seed, grapefruit and German chamomile essential oils. Use anywhere; on hands, face, lips and body.

Mild Manly – Basil, ylang ylang, cedarwood and lavender make up the fresh scent for this do-it-all balm. Despite the name, it works wonderfully well for both men and women.

Totally Unscented – Not a fan of scent? No problem! This extremely simple product is formulated with tallow and extra virgin olive oil. No essential oils are used in this balm, making it perfect for those who are sensitive to fragrance. As usual, use by rubbing on dry areas on your face and body.

Rugged CliffVintage Tradition say that ‘Rugged Cliff has a musk scent that is earthy but light.’ This is thanks to the patchouli, elemi, bergamot, fennel and lemon. With these tallow balms, a little goes a long way so this is sure to last a while. The size also makes it perfect for travel, on-the-go use.

Sensible – What does sensible smell like? It is captured in this do-it-all balm with clary sage, tangerine, angelica, ginger and myrtle. Use anywhere for optimal moisture.

Deodorant for Men– Using ocotea, clary sage, thyme and mountain savory as well as cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil in a tallow base, this cream-based deodorant is a great for men looking to swap out aluminium-laden formulations.
